When the rush of modern life becomes unbearable, sometimes all you need is a pit stop. A break from work is a chance not just to take a rest, but also to have fun. Break free! Ride out your adventure in Utah.
With an abundance of majestic topographies, Utah is great for exploring on the highway or off-road. A motorcycle ride is perfect for highways, and an ATV or dirt bike ride for off-road trails. It’s up to you to choose. Many motorsport centers offer vehicles for rent or sale. You choose from a wide array of used motorcycles in Salt Lake City. If not, you may rent at any on-site ATV outfitter at the head of a trail.
Whichever you choose, here are a few scenic routes you may want to check out:
- UT-35/Wolfcreek Pass (Road). Near Utah’s capital, this road is a local favorite. From downtown, you can reach it for less than an hour. Spanning almost 70 miles, the ride is smooth, thanks to the excellent asphalt. But, do mind your speed. There are twists requiring some technical skills. Admire how the rocks and soil become redder as you move away from the city. Along the way, visit the log cafe at Hanna. They serve great burgers and fresh pies daily.
- Poison Spider, Moab (Off-road). This trail will be challenging with a moderate to high level of difficulty. Bring a spotter if you need to. It leads you up the plateau overlooking Green River. About five miles in, you will reach the head of the Golden Spike Trail. Make sure to make stops along the way to take pictures of the amazing scenery. And yes, check out the arch.
- Paiute ATV Trail (Off-road). September to October is the best time for this. During these months, the weather is generally brisk, with no expected rain. The brightly colored trees and forest wildlife make up for the fantastic scenery. If you’re a nature lover or photographer, you’ll love it here. Other popular activities are fishing and camping near the path.
Whatever road you take, mind the local laws and keep safe. Now find your adventure! Utah is waiting.
